Urging voters to pick him over rival and Republican front-runner Donald Trump, presidential candidate Ted Cruz framed the battle to win the Indiana primary as a choice between good and evil.

"I believe in the people of the Hoosier state. I believe that the men and women gathered here and the goodness of the American people, that we will not give into evil but we will remember who we are and we will stand for our values,” Cruz said at a rally in La Porte, Indiana.

Marxism is evil. Social Progressivism is evil. Anyone who supports these, including Obama and HRC and Bernie, must be stopped by any non-evil means necessary. When both Trump and Cruz realize this and stop calling each other idiotic names, we will have a chance.

Agreed. Cruz is a conservative who has nothing in common with the caricature that Trump and others have created. The real evil is Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and the rest of the totalitarian left. I am looking forward to the time when the silly season comes to an end and common sense returns to FR.

The real Ted Cruz is a reliable conservative, as demonstrated by his (almost) completely consistent positions and voting record, unless you cherry pick the rare exceptions from his career. Trump and Cruz agree on well over 80% of key issues. As Reagan said, they should be friends and allies, not enemies, and we should treat them as such.

From my experience in politics when candidates starts saying things like this they have internal polling showing them losing.

No, Cruz did not say Trump is evil per se.

Cruz is framing that people who support (and supported) him are good. Thus his fight against those “others” is a fight of good vs. evil.

Not the same as calling Trump evil directly, but his broad brush painted over a large swash of people he needs to win over.

Trump’s opponents in the Republican Party, the Media, and the ‘Rat Party portrayed Trump as “unhinged” and predicted he would crash and burn.

It seems it’s the other way around....

I think if Trump had never entered the race the nominee would have been Jeb! The campaign narrative would have been how Americans need to be more welcoming to immigrants(give them gifts maybe), how we need to “reform” the H!-B visas to make it easier to take more jobs from America, why we need more trade deals and more government programs and why we need to bring Muslims into the U.S.

Trump changed the narrative and while spending very little money beat the presumptive nominee with hundreds of millions of dollars and the support of the entire GOP establishment.

Without Trump to create and popularize the narrative of the outsider Cruz would have dropped out by now.

“It feels really good to cast that ballot for Trump. First time I’ve felt that good when votig in my life. (I was too young to vote for Reagan.)”

Me too! Best vote I ever cast, and the only one I’ve ever really felt good about.

When did Trump call Cruz evil?

The whole "Lyin' Ted" crap because of Cruz's camp repeating what CNN had already reported about Carson on the night of the Iowa caucuses. Trump has done the politics of personal destruction on Cruz, and while he did it well, it isn't something he should be proud of. He'd have gotten just as many votes by spilling his brashness 100% on Hillary who thoroughly deserves it, and he wouldn't have the problem of a split base--remember the Dems crushed Romney in April 2012 with the "cancer" lies, and Trump could have already crushed Hillary in April 2016 with the Benghazi truth, if Trump and Cruz weren't so fixated on destroying each other and letting Queen Jezebel re-enter the Oval Office.

The contrast in demeanor has become stark of late. Trump is projecting confidence and is upbeat, and his crowds are clearly with him all the way. Cruz seems to go into "tent revival preacher" mode with his every appearance, castigating his (dwindling) crowds for their failings in not supporting him.

It reeks of desperation and is a sure turn-off to most Americans. He's done.
