From family history I can sadly say Cruz seems a classic sociopath. He will never show remorse he feels none. Upset only if he gets caught at something and then only upset at the other person.

Sorry to hear that bout your family and being exposed. I was surprised when I learned how common this sort of mental state is - common enough that I wouldn't even call it "abnormal," it's just "different" and harmful as all get out.
Cruz is so darn bold in his remarks, even when confronted, that it strikes me as literally disconnected from reality, and always in a way that works in his favor.
