I personally don't like gap years. For those who can afford it, get the child starting in a direction and see if it's a good fit.

But in this case, I get it with the gap year. It's going to be a very political year and it's Malia's last year as First Daughter. There's so much benefit to experiencing that role and starting college with less of a spotlight on her in a year.

My thoughts exactly. Just because the left did or would do it to Palin or some other Conservative, doesn't make it right.
