I think it's like a lot of people here. they will support someone, who despite the odds of winning, represents something with which they identify.

Additionally, if you follow the logic of the story, they also believe Trump will lose too. They just think Trump is a once in a lifetime storm where Cruz represents all the festering tea party guys waiting to emerge when they believe it's their time.

I do not believe that Rush has endorsed Ted Cruz nor has he endorsed the #NeverTrump crowd. At the same time, keeping all options open, Rush has not come out strongly FOR The Donald, either.

What Rush is talking about is a whole lot of skull duggery going on out there.
