I don’t think he is as concerned about how many votes the VP can draw as how effective the individual will be in working with Congress.
He is confident with his ability to draw the needed votes to win.

I agree but, I think he is also well aware that winning the election may require a slightly different approach and any advantage should be taken.
I do believe we will be surprised with his pick.

One more thought, the GOPe and those that write their ticket are in quite a quandary at the moment. They will fight tooth and nail to see to it one of their own is anointed as VP.....
