That is a Series 1953A United States Note, not a run-of-the-mill Federal Reserve Note.

In decent shape, they’re worth about $5, and uncirculated they are around $30.

The School owes the little girl some change...

That was my thought too. Her $2 bill was worth a bit more than $2.00.

Nahh, worth $2, the bill’s in horrible shape, tears along the edge, and well creased. I can actually see some concern over the bill, but seriously, it is $2, put the bill in the register and let someone else deal with it later.

I’ve got 6 of these in my safe deposit box. For the kids when I pass.

About a year ago, the guy in front of me in a convenience store paid for his purchase with six $2 bills. I ended up buying them from the cashier (one 2003A, 2 1995, and 3 2009). Two of the ‘09s were consecutive serial numbers.

I assume they’re not worth anything over face, but they’re neat just to have.
