IMO, Cruz may have dropped out because there is something to the Lee Harvey story. Rush was covering for Cruz by bringing the name up so he could say Cruz had made his decision before that. Time will tell, hopefully.

seems possible. The Cruz campaign gave no indication they would drop out; quite to the contrary.

I doubt it but you never know. If his Dad did know LHO back in the day, I doubt he would have ever told Felito about it, so Teddy would think it wasn't true, and he therefore wouldn't drop out over it. It wouldn't be something to drop out about anyway. If his dad was working with pro or anti Castro groups in 1963, it would not mean he had any involvement with the assassination plot.

Cruz did go ape about it, and mischaracterized (lied) about what Trump said. Trump said that Senior was involved with LHO and no one was following up on it. He should have stayed away from it, IMO, and he should have said "may have been" based on photos and the fact that he was in New Orleans at the time. So it was not outrageous to ask why the press were not looking into it. Still, with a 15 point lead, I thought it was unnecessary to get into that issue.

Cruz's reaction epitomized why I have come to dislike him intensely. And what he said about Trump showed why he can't be brought back to the campaign. He knew what he was saying went beyond typical mud-slinging. He will be no help in the general election. I will regret what might have been.

I think it’s more likely that he was told that unless he got X% in Indiana, the check-writers were going to quit supporting him.

It will be fascinating to get at least a ballpark figure on how much $ was spent to stop Trump, among all the candidates, the SuperPACs, the Independent PACS, and other sources. Contrast that with what Trump has actually spent in his own campaign. Whew!!
