Well your alternatives aren’t going to help him. Rick Scott might help him in Florida although that is not clear either because Scott has huge negatives in Florida even though he’s been a pretty good governor. He just doesn’t have the personality. He might end up as an anchor instead. And the others are just excess baggage—not assets.

Female conservative in the shadows... Who knows the ins and outs of legislative branch interaction.
If I did not know better I would say someone like Michelle Bachman. A non executive from the house where finance related bills must originate.

Really, VP’s serve two purposes, 1) They have to competent to take over if the God forbid happens and 2) You would like someone to be able to deliver a key state, which for Republicans, Ohio is Key. Dems can win without it, Republicans can’t.

Kasich meets both. Rubio would also meet those 2 points since Florida is essential for Republicans. Texas for now is still a solid Red State so I see no path for a Cruz VP. maybe if he gets over losing, he could be considered for a Supreme Court position it Trump wins as there are likely going to be several more retirees the next 4 years. So even with Cruz hypothetically going to the High Court, his replacement will likely be a solid Republican.

NO—but lots of Freepers still believe Gingrich is some sort of purist.

“If Trump is an outside, then stick to it and choose someone who was not running.”

That’s a reasonable position. Maybe Sessions or Martinez?

Kasich shouldn’t be allowed to assume any position that allows him greater accessibility to the White House. Plus, we shouldn’t be forced to listen to his hectoring and moral superiority for the remainder of the campaign, or as the VP. If Trump picks Kasich then he’s a moron.

Newt is too old and will be viewed as an insider as of late. He needs someone a bit younger.

” ... we shouldn’t be forced to listen to his hectoring and moral superiority for the remainder of the campaign,”

Then that rules out Newt as well.

Since the vice President is actually the functioning head of the CIA and multiple services of that nature it has to be someone who is capable of ordering wet work.

Kasich has no respect for Trump. Why would Trump say this?

Cruz might help bring in conservatives although he’d do nothing to bring in the establishment. And Texas is already in the bag. Cruz would obviously hurt Trump in the Northeast but I am not sure Trump has much hope in the Northeast anyway.

He needs someone with political savvy. That lets out several on the list.

First and foremost, he should choose a conservative. Pandering to the mushy middle won't do anything except to piss off conservatives. We've held our noses enough cycles now that it's time for them to do the same.

I've been told over and over and over again that Trump will crush Hillary in Florida, Ohio and Virginia. If that's the case, then he doesn't need to pander. His negatives with women should cause concern for his campaign and that should motivate him to find a conservative woman that can help him in the west and with women in general.
