With Donald Trump's Tuesday victory in Indiana, he now looks like a sure bet to become the 2016 Republican presidential nominee.
The next item on his agenda: Whom should he pick as his running mate?
His decision will depend on what he hopes to accomplish with his No. 2.
Here are 22 possible candidates, bunched according to the various scenarios Trump and his campaign team will likely consider

No women, no minorities, no non-politicians.
They need to stimulate the ‘hood turnout.
The community organizers will be “wink-winking” about Hillary’s “failing health”.
Sorry, my mistake thinking it was his wife....
It’s still a bad idea (not yours) ...you don’t think nepotism won’t be a problem?
That would be interesting to say the least....
Yeah, I have at 20 highly qualified people who could be my V.P but I picked my daughter....that will win you an election for sure...
Besides, I thought we were done with dynasties...
Agreed. Keep ‘em guessing, because Trump cannot satisfy everybody whomever he chooses. As soon as he chooses he will have made political enemies.....put it off....keep them guessing, the media needs the issue to feed their ratings....the more the mysterious process is canvased, the more free publicity, and the more presidential Trump will appear.
You think. I didn’t say I wanted Newt, I said Trump did. (By the qualifications he said he wanted in a VP.) So take your concerns to him.
I’m not a “Rubio people”. Whether Rubio is or isn’t NBC he isn’t an “anchor baby”. His parents were both legal permanent residents. An anchor baby is one that is born to illegals or temporary visitors to allow them to stay in the country. As far as whether someone born here to parents who are legal residents but not yet citizens is a NBC, that’s an open question that can only be decided by SCOTUS. I get attacked from both sides, but that’s the reality. But having been born here to legal residents he has a much better case than Cruz, IMHO. However the Democrats might try to use it if he is the VP nominee, although it wouldn’t matter as much as if he were the Presidential nominee. It wouldn’t stop Trump from being on the ballot, so it’s not the problem it would be if he were at the top of the ticket.
Ernst and Martinez are GOPe, endorsed Rubio, so they are Amnesty Ho’s and open borders rinos.
Newt could serve one term and help right the country.
Nobody has his experience, is as good a spokesman and has his vision.
Newt get Trump hitting the ground running fast.
Newt is now 5 percent ahead in the hannity online poll.
Kasich and Cruz both dropped out already, nobody can say Hillary has a lock on winning. She is still going to lose in places like WV. She is going to get attacked with leaks from the FBI investigation if they don’t indite, and we think some FBI agents are going to resign and protest.
DITTO
Kasich as the VP pick would ruin everything. Boy the Establishment types can’t wait to water down the Trump revolution.
I’d think Trump’s VP is going to be more like a butler or valet than a consigliere. This isn’t a W. Bush / D. Cheney situation, more like a Baraq Obama / SlowJoe.
So ideology isn’t very important.
I guess you think Bush I was a good pick for VP.
Ronald Reagan was 69, Newt is 72.
“Martinez is an open borders RINO!”
Doesn’t matter matter if she follows instructions. She is a reasonably attractive (But not too attractive), Hispanic female who delivers a swing state and makes PIAPS look 99 in stead of 69
Duncan Hunter (Ca-50)
LOL! Funny..
My celebrity choice is missing. Chuck Norris for VP. Who will argue with him? All he has to do is give his opponent “The Stare” and it is all over. Warren, China, Mexico - no problem.
72 plus 4 equals 76
Newt assume presidency at 76. One terms put him at 80 at retirement, or 84 at end of two terms.
Furthermore, he won't take the job. He might do a 4 year stint as Chief of Staff or other advisory roll to get Trump situated.
I do agree that Newt wouldn’t likely do more than 4 years as a VP, so that does have a downside.
It will be interesting to see who he picks.
