Obama threatens, gives deadline to North Carolina on transgender law

Today the Obama Justice Department warned North Carolina state officials that their state stands to lose millions of dollars in federal funds unless they change a measure limiting access to bathrooms for transgender people. In a letter to Gov. Pat McCrory, DOJ contends that they and North Carolina would be in violation of federal civil rights law if the bill passes.

According to the Justice Department, the state law violates federal law under Title VII of the U.S. Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. The Obama administration says that with the passage of House Bill 2, “the state is engaged in a pattern or practice of resistance to the full enjoyment of Title VII right by employees of public agencies.”

“Rampent federalism was the cause of the last Civil War”

You speak truth. However, just like then, the plight of several “minorities” is being used as an excuse to force Federal rule over all. The use of a minority as a subterfuge to push an agenda is nothing new. And it works well for those low enough to use it. Lincoln’s afterthought became a settled Liberal method to further their agendas. What happens to the minorities that they use to achieve their ends is of no concern to them whatsoever. They could care less as long as their seats of power are secure. Freedom has nothing to do with any of it.

“As an aging, white hetero male.....Where’s my safe space?”

Same as this OFWG: the range where I practice with my .45 automatic.”

Cheers to you! I remember when men didn’t look for safe places; they created them for themselves and others.

I live in North Carolina. If I were giving the governor advice, I would suggest that HE send obama a message: Withhold all the federal funds you want....

I live here also.
How much money does NC send to the Dept of Ed in Washington? They turn around and send it back after taking their cut.

Gov. McCrory, Cut them off if they cut us off. Tit-for-Tat

A simple compromise...
Charlotte rescind their ordinance... HB2 invalidated.
The trannys go back to using the restrooms as they did in the past.

But..
They won't as the tranny/restroom argument was the red herring.
What they wanted was to flaunt their lifestyle and taunt the normal folks to do anything about it.
Access to dressing rooms, showers, etc.

McCrory and the Legislature/Assembly had better stand tough on this one. This is a red line in the sand from which O'bastard and the homo lobby will not retreat. They are trying to overwhelm America with their perverse and immoral beliefs and are using our own tax dollars against us.

Where in the Constitution does it give the federal government any power to regulate bathrooms or even annul State law at their pleasure - not that that matters any more to the Leviathan in Sodom On The Potomac?

The stupid idiots are not aware that women are second class in societies where homosexuals are dominant.

The south had agreed to capitulate on that issue, Lincoln delayed meeting with the southern envoys to start the war. The goal was Federalism, slavery was the excuse.

Legal immigration is blocked in favor of illegal immigration, the goal is slavery, not immigration.

Proof you can have your cake and eat it too.

The speeches, articles, and official proclamations that attended Secession made it abundantly clear that the security of slavery in the South was the single compelling reason for Secession. After the Civil War was lost and its terrible cost apparent, the Lost Cause myth was developed by the defeated leaders of the South. This posited that issues other than slavery were the cause of the War. After all, when the cost of the War in blood and treasure was reckoned, the maintenance of slavery was seen as too small and ignoble a cause.
