Use one or more of the Rainbow Herbicides. After all, we dumped them on our own troops in Vietnam.

Draft the Mexican cartels to burn the Taliban’s crops... and kill them.

The Taliban made growing of the poppy illegal when they ruled. Pretty well had it stamped out.
Most of U.S. heroin is grown in Mexico and regions south.

Isnt there now an armed and armored version of the Air Tractor crop-dusting plane? Why risk an American pilot to the possibility of a lucky hit with a heavy machine gun or cannon, if an unmanned drone can do the job?

Are there drones that can do the job, currently or in development? I agree that would be preferable, but it might not yet be an option.

I think a Predator drone could be modified fairly quickly.
It has a missile hard-point on each wing, and can carry a reasonably large weapons load. Attach a tank for the herbicide with a sprayer attachment to the hard-point on each wing, set it so the trigger starts the sprayer.
