Mary Matalin, Republican Strategist and Pundit, Changes Political Parties
New York Times ^ | MAY 5, 2016 | CHRISTOPHER MELE

Posted on 05/06/2016 6:49:06 AM PDT by detective

Mary Matalin, a high-profile political pundit and veteran strategist for the Republican Party, changed her party registration to Libertarian from Republican, she said on Thursday.

But in an interview with Bloomberg Politics, which reported on the switch, she emphasized that her decision was not connected to Donald J. Trump’s being the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

She described herself as a voter as a “provisional Trump” and a “never Hillary,” referring to the leading Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton.

Open borders is not a libertarian tenenant. Maybe the Libertarian party believes so but it is not. If it is allowed, Legal and controlled immigration is necessary to sustain a true libertarian country. It is critical to only let in others who will support your beliefs.

She is 100% correct about freedom of movement. Why else do dims work overtime to force people onto mass trans and make it expensive or impossible to move about? They known they cannot force their collective wisdom on us if we are able to move about.

All great purges start with restrIctions on movement then end with forced movement.

Don’t know that I agree that Trump is truly “Conservative”.

The real issue is that “Conservatism” as it’s been preached for the last quarter century, at least on the economic side (free trade, globalization, service economy, outsourcing, Milton Friedman supply-side economics) has been soundly rejected by the voters. The GOP had close to thirty years, and could not close the sale.

You can debate the philosophical merits on whether that’s a good thing or not. But it’s a FACT! Mitt, Ryan and the gang had better get a clue.

Poor Mary. She always seemed like a very strange woman in a strange marriage.

“Mary Matalin, a high-profile political pundit and veteran strategist for the Republican Party, changed her party registration to Libertarian from Republican, she said on Thursday”

I did the same in 2006. Congrats, M&M. What took you so long?

she was on his [Beck's] radio show

She said, Trump can't win without us [GOPe].

Um, sorry Mary, but Trump just won the nomination not only without you, but in spite of you.

He'll do just fine in the general election without you too.

She was on Beck this morning. Sad she listens to him every day

That mental illness is bad enough but never forget she has NEVER been a republican. She was always a Bush operative.

PLUS she has been irrelevant since 1994

Well, it didn’t take 2/3, and we’re well on our way to the bottom.

I went to a Libertarian Party Meeting many decades ago. I made the mistake of giving them my name and address when I first arrived. Every one other than myself who was there was a marijuana legalization activist. For decades I was sent stuff in the mail for legalizing marijuana. The mail man must have thought that I was a huge pot head.

You miss the point!

He couldn't find the answer because none existed so he created his own.

I do love the quote she gave about how the party didn’t leave her, that the party did was leave the keys in the ignition and the car running....

I did get a chuckle out of that.
