There’s no Trump without Palin: Meghan McCain scolds conservatives for backing Trump
salon ^

Donald Trump’s coronation as the GOP nominee will present plenty of opportunities for Republican amnesia and short-sightedness. The easiest thing to do, if you’re a conservative Republican, is to dismiss Trump as an aberration, as if his candidacy emerged out of a whirlwind. But that’s the work of revisionist historians, not honest observers of the last decade of Republican politics.

Consider this recent tweet by Meghan McCain, the daughter of John McCain and now a commentator for Fox News:

I hope history remembers those who gave up their conservative principles for the cult of personality and celebrity. And those who didn’t.

— Meghan McCain (@MeghanMcCain) May 3, 2016

The myopia here is staggering. Although she didn’t respond, I asked Meghan if she remembers an obscure, half-forgotten figure named Sarah Palin? I asked because, in so many ways, there is no Trump without Palin. Palin was Trump before Trump. The rambling incoherence, the vacuousness, the reality TV theatrics, the ghastly marriage of ignorance and confidence – Palin brought this to national politics long before Trump did.

I kind of hope he brings in Palin later overseeing Energy rather than offering her up as VP. Otherwise the media will be giddy before the election grinding out Palin hit pieces.

And its broadcast by IHeart Media and grates me so much I avoid listening to it 9pm-12 Midnight on WHP Radio locally.

The reason McCain family members get media attention and media jobs is because Senator McCain has sat on or been ranking member-chairman of Senate committees overseeing regulation of media in this country.

“The rambling incoherence, the vacuousness, the reality TV theatrics, the ghastly marriage of ignorance and confidence...”

But, enough about you Ms. McCain...

That's not what she said. It's from the person who wrote the article.

It's also BS.

First of all, because the potential is always there for all kinds of things in American politics. The Ross Perot campaign indicated that Donald Trump or somebody like him could do well in presidential politics, but it would be fatuous to say that there couldn't be a Trump without a Perot.

Secondly because McCain didn't know just how Palin would have turned out as a candidate. Picking running mates is like flipping a coin and nominees don't know for certain whether their choices can rise to the occasion.

Third, I don't think most people here would agree with the writer's opinion of Palin.

But it's the writer's opinion, not Meghan McCain's.

“I hope she gets a cabinet position.”

Me too. In fact, I not only hope Sarah gets a cabinet position, I demand it. We need our absolute best people at the top, to help President Trump realize his full agenda.

“Why is she important?”

I can’t believe a Freeper is actually asking that question.

If you don’t understand, I can’t explain it to you.

That’s a skin peeling post, my friend. The GOP elites are squealing because Trump is yanking the covers off their worthless hides.

The question was asked in a sarcastic vein. I guess you cannot understand that.

It wasn’t clear in your initial post.

Some people do sarcasm better than others. Your intended sarcasm fell flat.

I’m not a fan of Trump and was quite disappointed that Palin backed him. That said, I could NOT care less what Meg-ham McPork has to say about anything!

Is this same pro-homo “marriage” and pro-abortion digbat that calls herself a “conservative”. I thought so. Ignore. She’s voting for Hillary Clinton.

I can't believe this post-coed one night fling would think she could beat conservatives over the head with Sarah Palin? Is Meghan McCain having delusions from some strong Colorado pot? She is on the edge. I hope Meghan does not go and comb her hair backwards and start talking demonic words backwards. Is she possessed?

Duck!!! I think Meghan is spitting pea soup!!!

Get a priest!!
