Let me just say that social conservatism, at least from my 70 years of observation, doesn’t break down to being a republican or a democrat. Nor independent for that mater.
The abortion issue for instance, highlights this... A large majority of adults DO NOT support abortion on demand. Something like 70%. These folks are not all republicans. For example, the Catholic block is probably the most focused anti-abortion group, and they vote overwhelmingly democrat.
As far as fiscal conservatism is concerned, people vote their pocketbook. People vote in a way that they perceive will benefit themselves and their families personally. They don’t necessary understand the issues and they may be wrong, but they vote that way none the less.

He has a long and unbroken record of doing so, something no other candidate had.
Trump can easily bring conservatives onboard by relatively modest changes to some of his programs. Knock off the tariff increases, ethanol subsidies, eminent domain, SCOTUS previews (which he’s doing), solid commitment to the Penny Plan, and a few others.
The larger concern is his lack of a formal organization. He needs to raise $1.5 billion to compete with the Beast. His GOTV ground game is almost non-existent. He won the primary on the strength of his personality and message, but he’s up against the entire progressive movement in the general.

Do you even KNOW the role of a “finance guy” working for a campaign? Why in the world would his links to anyone or anything else have a bearing on the quality of the job he can do?
You remind me of the kind of a person who, needing to choose a Dr to perform an operation would eschew the best qualified surgeon whose politics you didn’t agree with in favor of a lesser qualified surgeon who was more to your political liking.
Trump is hiring a “mechanic” of sorts, a person to do a job involving MONEY MANAGEMENT and procuring and as such Trump understands it is more important to get the BEST MECHANIC available and not someone who agrees with him 100% on his policies.

Look back at the SCOTUS voting record and you will see just that, they vote along political lines 99.9% of the time.
I too, are the same age as you and my analyzation of ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS of any party or movement are “in it for themselves”...PERIOD!
Whether it be money, power, popularity, notoriety, fame....you name it...its for them...not us.
To gain this wonderful bounty, they will do and say anything and everything the gullible voters like in order to hold, advance and retain office. Many start out with good ideas and intentions but the longer they are in the political world the more corrupt they become.
Power = money. Money = Power. Money is bait...Politicians are fish. Fish have to eat bait or they will perish. The larger the fish, the more bait they have to have.
Consequently, career politicians will do anything (including...gasp...lying) to keep office. What they say is not what they do.
The corruption of government has encroached upon our lives to the extent that we cannot even purchase a toilet that works as originally designed.
Nothing will change until everything FLIPS...instead of us being afraid of the politicians, make them afraid of us.
These so-called “conservatives” are the same types who helped Obama get seated - twice.....
If so many Conservatives actually thought about the future 4 years ago, they would have elected Romney.
The end result would have been bad whether it be Obama or Romney for the “little people” would continue losing freedoms, liberty and the American way of life we used to know.
Why the hell is the public crying out for a NON-POLITICIAN for office this time? The answer is obvious.

If Trump keeps his word on his top 4 promises he will have done 4 times as much for conservatives as all the republicans and so-called conservatives in congress and the senate have done for us in the last 27 years.
Think about how much ground the liberals have gained in that time.
And what have conservatives gained in the same time?
Republicans couldn’t (or wouldn’t) even stop the liberal onslaught when they had the presidency and a voting majority in both houses of the legislature.
If tthey had done their jobs when they had the chance scumbags like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama would have never been elected president.
How did Bill Clinton make it to the presidency?

Good points.. the Republican Party asked us to have faith in them as they ran Dole, McCain and Romney because of the boogeyman. They asked us to trust them by giving them a majority in the house and senate, and the threat of liberal Judges. What we got for that is more liberalism, 3 more liberal Judges and a party that is more liberal than the Democrats. I am being asked to vote by holding my nose and voting for Trump because Hillary is the boogeyman. And she might appoint more liberal judges. Guess what, whoever is elected will appoint more liberal judges because the Republicans won’t stop them. Trump did us a service by showing us what the RNC really is. However, Trump is not a conservative. I will not be tricked again into ‘trust me’, against the fight against the MacGuffin (boogeyman) after being tricked for 40 years. The RNC needs to go the way of the Whigs. A new, real conservative party needs to be birthed. Otherwise, by trying to reform a corrupt system, we are insuring a fatal blow for America’so future.
Ryan should get out while he can before the voters throw him out. He’ll never truly support Trump. Should he “Come around,” it’ll be lip service, and nothing more. I hope he does lose in the district primary. I hope McCain gets the boot and any others who are a part of the DC cabal that need to go. Too bad Linda G. isn’t one of them, for the time being, anyway.
