Must suck to be a conflicted moron with a degree.
Like the islamics...”if you don’t believe in what I believe in, you’re toast!”
She’s a “firearm infidel”, to him.
As a college student, or an employee, you place yourself at risk by discussing conservative politics, marriage, abortion, or gun views. It’s not right, but it is a real and ever present risk to your optimum future.
A liberal prides themselves on being tolerant of other people’s views. But they are shocked and dismayed to find out other people’s views conflict with theirs.
Meritocratically, yes; practically no.
Here, an opinionated moron is tenured, and can play demigod to a struggling young student on the basis of her prejudices, not merit. I was brought up to hope and believe that, although there were exceptions, people in authority had by and large earned their authority, or were at least entitled to that presumption until they proved themselves unworthy.
I'm older now, which sucks, but less naive, which doesn't.
And no Nazi professor would write a recommendation letter for a Jewish student.
See, it's easy.
I’m guessing this professor gets tingles up her leg for diversity and tolerance. However, writing a recommendation for a student who, is likely deserving, but a gun enthusiast, is a bridge too far.
If this student was a transsexual, this professor couldn’t write it fast enough.
Payne might consider trying something new called “intellectual honesty”. The student either merits recommendation based on performance or she does not. Based on performance, not based on belief. We have come a very long way down a thoroughly dishonest road in academia to think otherwise.
Being the student’s science professor and being asked to write a reference for her, if you write about anything not regarding her scientific abilities, you are being a judgemental a**hole....
Students will then be free to pick schools based on their political leanings. If I were considering attending a school where the professors are anti-gun, I would want to know.
Revealing such a bias after the fact is the height of deception and should garner a reprimand for the professor.
~ #10 ~ “The student either merits recommendation based on performance or she does not.”
Exactly. Academic excellence is the ONLY valid reason for such a recommendation. Unbelievable!
Liberals say “no othering - don’t let anyone feel excluded” and turn around and denounce and hate mob those who don’t absolutely agree with them.
Dennis Prager has pointed out that they have an extreme level of intellectual immaturity, to readily point out the biases of others but seem ignorant of the fact they have any of their own, much less act so intensely based on them.
Well stated.
Many “institutes for higher learning” try to filter out conservative students in favor of the progressive ones.
That’s how we get progressive journalists and TV news people- they got much better grades than the conservative ones. Teachers, too.
intellectual honesty? From a college professor? Not since the 50’s.
That liberal would scream bloody murder if she was fired for being anti-gun.
Try withholding a recommendation because the student is pro abortion... See what happens
She refuses to write a letter of recommendation for a student, simply because the student has discussed exercising her second amendment rights. Not a “made up right”, but one ensconced in the US Constitution.
Wonder how the professor would feel if people refused to write recommendations for students who were in favor of the Judge-created “rights” set forth in Roe v. Wade.
Notice how sneaky she is? She knows it’s wrong, so cloaks her identity.
She needs to be sued if her conduct ever becomes public and provable.
