On Mother's Day, President Obama wants to talk to you about the "diaper gap."
In a post on Medium for the holiday, Mr. Obama explained that many low-income families struggle to afford diapers for their young children, a trend that can lead to health and well-being issues for not only the children but for the mothers.
"I can't imagine what it would have been like to be a parent that has to choose between diapers and other basic expenses," he wrote. "Access to clean diapers isn't just important for a child's health and safety. Research has shown that mothers who are unable to afford diapers for their babies are more likely to suffer from maternal depression and mental health issues."

Under this POTUS we are paying for diapers for everyone but those who are actually pulling their weight. BTW, aren’t we all doing so well, so why a diaper discussion by said POTUS?
In reality, the diapers are pocket change compared to the maternity hospital costs we are paying.
Stop by your local hospital (it doesn’t have to be in the ‘hood) and check out who’s being born these days.
Dont be fooled by a campaign for Diaper Stamps. First we need to certify diaper manufacturers,and distributors. Providing the poor with inferior diapers will only lead to a generation of hard asses.
In what ways are these people struggling to provide diapers to their babies? They've made choices they can't afford? They are buying cigarettes, booze, cell phones, flat screen TV's but not frickin' diapers? Give me a break.
My wife and I were not able to afford packaged diapers for our kids because it was out of our budget. So we bought cloth diapers and washed those suckers for years on end to keep the little ones in clean diapers. We never thought anything about it. Worked fine for us. We still have a dozen of this old raggity diapers that I use working on the tractor or greasy jobs. They absorb great! :-)
I can't imagine would it would be like to decide, being poor, that having a baby right now is a good idea.
So why is it that the mother is no longer able to buy cloth diapers and then wash them? Our generation did that for all our babies. Then they came out with the disposable diapers and now the same people that wanted the disposable ones complain about them filing up the landfills.
Instead of charity organizations giving away disposable diapers they should just give each mother a one-time supply of cloth ones and a diaper bucket. They make awesome dust cloths and dishtowels when the child is trained and no longer needs them. Problem solved.

That’s true. Years ago I bought a rental house in the Detroit ghetto. One of my tenants had a toddler who rarely wore diapers and would just run around naked.
The tenant got hooked on crack and was selling her possessions for drugs. She would turn tricks while we were there trying to fix up the house.
That was the end of my brilliant career as a landlord.

It was about 20 years ago liberals were screaming about diapers and the impact diapers had on the environment. They were going to last all eternity in landfills, were horrible for wild life, and were polluting our rivers. Cloth diapers were the only way to go, UNTIL, they realized it takes bleach and water to clean them.

It seem s like ll these “gaps” didn’t start until 0bama became president. Trump should run against Hillary on all these “gaps” that came into existence the last 7 years.
