Socialist, not a Communist. So he’s a Republican ?
Good one FM. 😀
He does not like corruption much. When the lag lag bala scandal broke. He said if any airport employees were caught, they would eat that cartridge. I believe he meant it.
You don’t “blend in”, but the folks probably know you.
I am in Luzon and we get criminal kidnap gangs on and off, so I travel with the cook or maid when I walk or use tricycles...
our danger is the feuding between political clans up here: last week, we had a shooting against a supporter of the present mayor’s opponant, and we are hoping no one else gets shot.
The Muslim violence is worse, of course, but there is also the tendency of crooked politicians to off the whistleblowers in the press and often low level officials get killed, either out of anger they are stealing too much or because they won the election and the sore loser no longer can steal a lot of money.
Faggotry is not an “Asian” value, but gays are part of society and they are integrated into society.
When rich people exploit the poor and steal everything in sight, going around with your boyfriend doesn’t seem such a bad sin. And when poverty is so bad, you tend to sympathize with those who work in the sex trade. When a US Marine killed a transvestite when he found out “she” was a “he”, the outcry was not because he killed a gay, but because the poor he/she was supporting her family by working the bars, and now they would be left destitute
However, with the increas of Protestants here, there is a tendency to frown on them and their behavior. As with Manny Paquiao.
My quip on “gay marriage” is that it will allow our men to get green cards by seducing and marrying Americans, just like women here always have done.
Duterte is well ahead of the 2nd place Poe, now. I watched him get interviewed on several stations, and he isn't claiming anything yet. It looks likely that he will be the next President of the Philippines. Time will tell what that means to us!
Tomorrow will be a new day for the Philippines.
uh, cherry, a lot of us are ex pats living in the Philippines. Some of us retired here with our Filipino spouses. Others, like my husband, worked in the US and became citizens but have retired here.
The Philippines will let the returnees to get their citizenship back...one is even running for President: Grace Poe. The rest of us are permenant residents but can’t vote.
I can vote in US elections but not in Filipino ones. The local Democrats are backing Bernie. No local Republican group however, so I don’t know who all the ex servicemen here are voting for.
I trust in the Lord, and know that whatever happens is his will. I was a missionary in frica, and that was a lot more dangerous because we didn’t carry guns with us.
But I am not really worried for myself..but I live with my son’s family, including a teenage granddaugher, and I worry about her...
Robbery is the main danger, and for about two years we have had a drug problem in town. So one hopes Duterte will stop this growing crime wave.
"It's OK .. everyone needs to be happy"
I saw his daughter today for the first time .... she has hair shorter than a US Marine
Just sayin', an observation
Right now, Duterte winning by a large margin with 45% precints in.
Interesting ... Marcos the corrupt daddy's son with the anti corruption, no nonsense DU30
Heh. But maybe if BongBong is VP, he won’t try to overthrow Duterte like Gloria did to Erap.
Of course, there is always the military danger of a coup, especially with Duterte’s NPA ties....
It IS an interesting bed the President will sleep in
It appears Rody will be President Duterte... and the Philippines is in for a ride! Hang on tight!
WE have President Trump and HE has a job in front of HIM that ... a lot of people have forgotten ALL the warnings of the pundits over the last couple of years ...
to wit;
"It will take sacrifice to fix us" and "It's going to hurt a lot of people to make the corrections"
(Not necessarily quotes, but the sentiments are correct)
Germany is gone, England is gone, Europe is going and SOME Europeans are fighting back ... humanity is in for a ride (imo)
