Downtown Chicago is beautiful. A lot of northern areas are great. You just have to avoid “those” areas, if you know what I mean.
If the animals are just a short ride away on mass transit, the “beautiful areas” quickly become as dangerous as the wild ones. That is the problem in NYC; the freak who slashes you or pushes you onto the subway tracks is only a fare away...
