Paranoid? It’s not that they should be merely paranoid, but genuinely
afraid...for real reasons and not just imagined.

The public is unbelievably stupid. Don’t they realize that this is a ploy of their government to create even more government jobs to handle the paperwork and to collect more tax (coerced)money from the fists of their citizens in the establishment of even more requirements and “hoops to jump through” for themselves?

This is another example as to where we are today: The people creating another government regulation or bureaucracy that will ensure less freedom for themselves...and in this case...reduce armed resistance against the eventual privatization of everything they own and the stripping of all freedoms from them.

However, the state is Maine and it is already a lost cause anyway.

Not so.

I’m in Maine and people are not happy about this crap....so called “universal backgroubd checks.” It’s an uphill battle for this BS to pass.

Also, we have the most conservative governor in the country.

In addition, the democrat controlled Maine House and the GOP controlled Maine Senate passed Constitutional Carry last year, and the governor signed the bill making it law. The same bill made switch blades legal. No permit necessary to carry a concealed firearm on your person or in your vehicle.

We’ve had Open Carry for many years, too.

Gun ownership in Maine has always been very strong.

All states have registration, but if you don’t register, you can still show up and vote.

If you show up at my district unregistered and demand to be allowed to vote, my instructions are to give you a provisional ballot. When it is checked against the registration rolls and you are not found there, your vote will not be counted.

Interesting. What state is that? I’d like to check it out.
The provisional ballot should only be checked for residency, not registration. At least, constitutionally.

Yes....

Governor Paul LePage is probably the most conservative governor in the country.

He supported Chris Christie during the GOP primary season, however.

Chris Christie was very helpful during Gov. LePage’s re-election race in 2014, and LePage tends to be a loyal sort of guy.

Gov. LePage is going to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 again so-called independent Angus King. (Maine has term limits for governor).

I had to laugh....at the Maine GOP convention in Bangor several weeks ago, Gov. LePage addressed the crowd and told them, “Obama....One Big Ass Mistake America!”

Interesting. What state is that?

New Jersey. But I think the states get to determine their own voting rules, unless I missed something in an amendment..

Section 4

1: The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

Yes, you’re right. In Jersey the limit is 21 days before to register. If ID couldn’t be verified in registration, and you don’t bring one on voting day, you have until 2 days after to provide it to county clerk.
