What you observed matches my experience with Uber/Lyft as well.
The only shortcoming to Uber/Lyft is obtaining a reliable ride to the airport at 4:30 am or similar.
When a ride is crucial or time-sensitive other sources are usually better.

Exactly. I’ve been traveling a lot recently and I would not rely on Uber to get to the airport on time.
