FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Tommy Schrader clinched the Democratic nomination in the 3rd District Congressional race in Tuesdays primary. Wednesday was a day of celebration for Schrader.
Drinking a couple of beers to be honest, and if you dont like that dont vote for me, Schrader said. I had a smile because I had a feeling I was going to win.
But who is Tommy Schrader?
Tommy Schrader is an honest guy that wants to work for a living. Hes a hard worker, the man running for Congress said.
Shrader claims to have a viral video on YouTube and loves politics. He has made runs at several other offices, and said he has been on the ballot for eight different races. He described himself as a conservative Democrat who is pro-life, supports raising the minimum wage and supports LGBT issues.
Its in my blood, Schrader said about his political ambitions.
Schrader is a Fort Wayne native. He went to Snider High School before dropping out after his sophomore year when he said he developed a mental illness. He later got his GED and studied politics at the Anthis Career Center. Hes worked in a library, as a poll worker and a volunteer at the AIDS Task Force. Unemployed today, he said hes trying to get an apartment so he can move out of the Coliseum Inn in Fort Wayne.
Its kind of hard to manage money when you smoke and you drink beer and [live in] hotel rooms, Schrader said. Id like to get an apartment.
In his free time, he said he likes to read, study politics and hang out at his favorite spots around town.
I like to hang out at Pint and Slice and Ziffles Rib Bar, Schrader said.
Pretty much just a regular Joe, according to Schrader.
We pay our taxes, we dont cause any problems and have a couple of beers. I smoke cigarettes. I know its not good for my health but Im not some prude or homeboy that doesnt do anything but watch TV all day long, Schrader said.
Schrader said he is hoping to move from his room at a motel to Washington, D.C.
So one of my goals is to win the election and frankly make $189,000 a year wouldnt be bad at all, you know, Schrader said.
He will face Republican candidate Jim Banks in the general election this November.

Goodness. It’s not the years, it’s the mileage that gets you.
CC
The 3rd is the only district that Cruz “may” have carried, comprised of the only counties in the state that did not go to Trump.
The local media was all in for Ted, with WOWO radio hosts attending and speaking at a Cruz rally there.
I like this guys. He’s honest. $189K wouldn’t be bad. No sir, it would not.
I recall seeing a short video of a Congressman who lived in his office. He had a cot and everything else was provided.
I think I would rather do that than fight DC traffic.
It looks like we have a replacement in congress for Jim Traficant.
Just like all dems, go to Congress with nothing and let the taxpayers pay all your bills.
Nothing new here.

Fulfills requirement to run as a Democrat.
“I recall seeing a short video of a Congressman who lived in his office. He had a cot and everything else was provided.”
That was Dick Armey
Thanks.

Firm grasp of congressional approach to fiscal policy as well.
Here in Pittsburgh we used to have a homeless guy named Bob Lansberry who roamed the streets downtown. He claimed to have been a victim of secret CIA mind control experiments. He wore a sandwich board which said “Does Secret Radio Control Your Mind?” on one side, and “Why Can’t Lansberry Get Mail?” on the other.
(he claimed that a government conspiracy was also diverting his mail....the post office claimed the problem was that he had no permanent address, but he never bought it).
He ran for Congress in a Democrat Primary and received 27,000 votes!
Sounds like he wants to be the next Bernie Sanders
Sounds like he wants to be the next Bernie Sanders
cheesehead.
The only real difference between this guy and Ted Kennedy is family money. Well, that and this guy appears to have more integrity.
The Democrat party has been Communist since 1994 and pro-abortion since 1972. There is no such thing as a “conservative” or “pro-life” Democrat.
YIKES!!!!! No wonder he supports LGBT issues!
