Nowhere in this article does anyone even suggest the problem is guns or gun owners or that there should be ANY type of regulation on any firearm.

What is "obvious" here, is not attempted gun control.
I would think that by calling violence by black street gangs “gun violence” that in itself suggests the solution is banning guns. Which, if I’m not mistaken, they pretty much are in Chicago anyway.
Not very long ago Rahm was blaming Indiana for Chicago’s “gun violence”.
I think to anyone who has followed the news at all, especially as it relates to Democrat controlled cities, is that any violence or death is attributable to the “easy access to guns” and any other number of “root causes” except the most obvious ones: Liberal Democrat controlled cities with high numbers of fatherless minorities and high crime rates. A lot of people hate that truth, and it is important to note we live in times where one cannot speak the truth because others hate the truth.
This is Chicago.
Who runs the city? (Liberal Democrats)
Who is the mayor? (Rahm Emmanuel)
Who is the President of the United States? (Barack Obama)
Who do they both admire and emulate? (Saul Alinsky)
What is their party affiliation? (Democrat)
EVERY article covering this kind of thing, especially those emanating from Chicago, and especially those from any Chicago paper (Including the Tribune) are going to be used, without exception, and without qualification, as grist for a liberal mill that decries gun violence as a function of the availability of guns, NOT the criminals who actually carry out those crimes.
Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t report the crime. And I give small credit to the newspaper for actually writing three small paragraphs about the race aspect of the crimes, which lends discussion not to the races of both victims and perpetrators, but instead to how various races feel about the safety of their neighborhoods.
One would think that a statistic that says X % of the total murders and violent assaults in Chicago in 2016 were committed by RACE X, and Y % of the total victims of murders and violent assaults in Chicago in 2016 were suffered by RACE X, one would grasp immediately that the greatest threat to the lives of men, women, and children in a given community were posed by RACE X, not by the police, the fire department, any other race, or the Federal Government.
Actually, I take that back. The Federal Government might be the greatest threat to their well being.
I also want to stress that I didn’t have a problem with posting of the article by you. I have a problem with the way news and political entities pussyfoot around the real issues.
I saw some hand-wringing there, but there were also some tidbits about budgeting and the attitude of the Chief of Police that were interesting.
