And only 93 comments on yesterday’s Rush Thread. Rush had better change gears quickly; he’s about to become irrelevant...at least to some degree.

A friend of mine with 25 years in radio told me the national ad placement agencies are instructed by many of their clients not to place ads on stations that carry Rush. Not just not during his time slot but none on the station at all out of concern their ad may run during his show.

He had some minor issues with that dynamic before but it it intensified significantly after the Sandra Fluke controversy. Advertisers did not want to be a part of the controversy surrounding Rush and that event.

re: advertising

I have noticed on several online radio stations I listen to have mostly PSA and Ad Council advertising. There is little to no local or national advertising. There are some online businesses that do seem to advertise on the talkshows.

A couple of years ago, one local/online radio station I accessed would just go silent during ‘breaks’. Because of the length of the breaks on talk radio, sometimes the silence was several minutes in duration.

Rush should have stayed the hell out of the Sandra Fluke thing, or just mocked her in a general sense. Ever since he called her a slut, the advertising during Rush's show has markedly changed, and not for the better. Same old Ad Council PSAs, Viagra-like pills, etc. Ugh!

I wonder who will replace Rush someday during the 12-3pm hour?
