PA Engineer :" The US is also masking the drop in both rail and long haul truck traffic. Those are down 11%."

Yeah , I saw the photos of the 292 train locomotives sitting in the desert- that represents US shipping within the borders - the photo says reduction of internal shipping.

PA Engineer :" The problem is global including China.
Venezuela is a test tube of failed Keynesian and Socialist economics. "

Quite true ! Frist you run out of luxuries (like toilet paper, beer , etc.) and then no backup supplies of essentials (like milk, bread, eggs, flour, etc).
Then you have internal transport shutting down (OTR Trucks, railroads, local haulers, etc.)so that even local grown commodities can't be transported to local markets ,
you are looking at total economic shutdown.
If you add " agricultural failures, legitimacy collapse of central governments, and commodity deflation " , you have no market to get goods to be transported for sale.

PA Engineer:" ..we are headed into a perfect storm of a failed fiat global currency "

With no value to fiat currency , other than full faith in the government, and no precious metals to back it up, the currency is based only on 'lip-service'.

It’s time for thinking people to plan for the same food situation in any modern complex society. Their failure point came first by socialist price controls etc, but our failure point is just an EBT system failure away.

Once the big supermarkets are looted, visibly on TV, it’ll get ugly everywhere fast. Then, with an impossible security situation in the cities, the external food conveyors will all stop, from farm to factory to distributers etc. Once the food conveyor stops for any reason, massive social ruptures will occur.

For the same reason, I shudder to think about SoCal after a major earthquake that breaks water mains etc. We have overbuilt our capacity to live on the local resources. The meta system has to run, or the anthill gets kicked pretty hard.
