I’m sure the FOX journalists who wrote this piece was proud to that ‘investigative piece.’ I hope President TRUMP pulls the plug on this kind of reporting.

Just what do you expect President Trump to do about it?

TRUMP mentioned he would not allow Generals or military strategists to air their dirty laundry via the media. It is counterproductive to maintaining military superiority.

I hope that is true.

Budget cuts, terrible spending decisions, and poisonous culture have whittled the USAF away. Damn shame.

Reminds me of the British during the Faulklands War.

We had a museum at Offutt AFB. In it was a British Vulcan Jet. It was so old, that it had exposed rivet heads everywhere except on the leading edges of the wing. The British flew in a crew that spent several weeks getting it in ferry condition and then they flew it out. I wonder what happened to it (my guess is that it was for parts rather than combat, but I don’t know).

Somewhere between then and just post-2000 when I went back, the jet was replaced with a newer Vulcan. I know that it is different because the rivet heads are flush almost everywhere in it.

The Vulcan bomber is housed at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum off of I-80 near Ashland, Nebraska. Nice home for a proud bird. Hope you can visit sometime as well worth the stop.

Being a missileer at Ellsworth was a nice place to be. Heard there’s not much left of the former mission though there’s an LCF and LF near Wall that’s open as a National Parks Service site for tours.

(Ops at 90th SMW and 3901st SMES).

Does that one have a gas pipe mod that runs between the pilots? The ones for the Falklands had it for air-to-air refueling.

These “diversity” programs fail because many of the targeted “preferred minorities” that could actually meet the standards simply opt for another path in life. This is true with cops, military, etc.; if a black person could pass the tests required, they could probably do a lot of other things as well - particularly things involving less danger and/or more pay...

I was at F-111 depot McClellan early 1977 to late 1978. I worked depot level maintenance on F-111, F-106, and A-10’s. The F-111 was a great example of an aircraft that could do every thing for every service, very poorly. Sounds like the F-35.
F-111 was a fast aircraft, cutting edge, a real pain in the ass to work on, but designed by politicians, so it was doomed.

The GOP’s first budget is for 2016. They were just elected in 2014. 2015 was the year they wrote this year’s budget.

yes, people voted for bammy and this is what we get....

the military sadly is following along other govt entities....the cost of the personal is so outrageous for lifetime benefits that there is no ability to fund research, facilities, etc....

I wouldn't be surprised if bammy forces a union on the military before he leaves...

Yep, and you can point the finger at anyone not willing to defeat Clinton (or her replacement) in 2016.

Oh, I don't know. The F-111F with the Pave Tack targeting pod destroyed more Iraqi armor in the 1991 Persian Gulf War than the A-10.

The F-111 was eventually retired in favor of the F-15E.

The military should not be publicly reporting their state of readiness or lack thereof. That’s just common sense.
