With the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees all but decided, attention turned Sunday to the possible contenders for vice president.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said he and his wife, Calista, “could be lured into a new path” if presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump were to ask him to join the ticket.

“If he can convince Calista and me that it’s doable and it’s serious and that we would in fact contribute, I think we’d be very hard pressed not to say yes,” Mr. Gingrich said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Nwt would be a disaster. I really like him, but as VP he brings too much baggage to the table. Hopefully, this is Newt getting on the Trump bandwagon of spinning the media.

No Newt. Trump wants to win; although Trump should pick someone who knows the workings of government.

Newt for chief of staff. On his own, as VP candidate, he would bring few new votes while exposing the ticket to socon hatred of Newt for his personal life.

Meh. I dont know.

I voted for Newt in 2012, was my hero when I was a teen in 1994.

But we need a bit of a fresh face. He is certainly sharp and smart... just has too much material the left can pick out of the trash bin.

Not Newt.
Advisor somewhere, fine.
Someone younger and less tainted and also eligible.
No children of foreign nationals.

I don’t think he’s the best choice. I hope this is an effort to misdirect the media and the Clinton campaign, make them waste a lot of time and money doing oppo research.

I think he would be an asset as part of the WH team but not as VP.

Given Newt’s extensive knowledge of the legislative process
he would be an incredible asset to Trump in the VP position.

I think she is Obama’s brain..but obviously that isn’t a position that Trump needs filled.

Many are saying Chief of Staff. Whatever the title he could advise Trump about the inner workings of Congress..etc.

I think Trump is playing everyone again. Carson’s saying the 5 names on “the list” & Newt’s telling the world he would accept it. Methinks Trump continues to play 3D chess while the rest are setting up the checkers board.

Newt would be OK. I prefer Chief of Staff though.

Jeff Sessions was interviewed on ABC's Sunday AM talk show. He said that he would accept if asked but didn't expect it. As usual, Sessions is the voice of reason and very objectively supported and advocated for Trump.

Perhaps this will give all the 'pubs who aspire to move on up in a Trump administration to stop hedging their bets. Trump will have a qualified VP even if the younger ones continue to be jerks. With both of them on board, Gingrich and Sessions, it further reduces the relevance of Ryan and Romney.

Another even bigger disaster would be Sarah Palin, whom Ben Carson has told the Washington Post is on Trump’s short list!!! I pray Trump doesn’t repeat McCain’s mistake!!

Democrats don’t have to check their baggage. Liberals are far more forgiving of the next guy’s personal life if he/she has what they’re looking for.

Would he bring “my wife Calista” to every meeting?
