Either way, too soon. And the loss of a great talent.
I’m just not a fan. In those days I would be listening to Elvis Costello, The Stones and The Who. H&O were just not my cup of tea.
Considering it’s from Salon, great article! Through you and Salon, I have bookmarked Darryl Hall’s internet show so I can selectively watch at my leisure! Thanks for posting!
Some of us consider that cheating:)
What their record company did to Ann and Nancy Wilson was worse than even suggesting that they were lesbians (which they are not), it implied they were incestuous with each other (which they werent).
In 1977 Mushroom ran a full-page advertisement in Rolling Stone magazine showing the bare-shouldered Wilson sisters (as on the "Dreamboat Annie" album cover) with the suggestive caption, "It was only our first time!". When a reporter suggested, backstage after a live appearance, that the sisters were sex partners, the infuriated Ann returned to her hotel room and began writing the lyrics to "Barracuda". Heart broke its contract with Mushroom and signed a contract with CBS subsidiary Portrait Records, resulting in a prolonged legal battle with Siegel.

Do you have a credible source for that? I searched and couldnt find any article or source to back up such a claim.
Karen Carpenter died from heart failure, the result of the harm she did to her body having the disorder anorexia nervosa. In order to lose or not gain weight, she abused laxatives and thyroid replacement medication (to speed up her metabolism) and ipecac syrup (emetine), but Ive never seen any mention of her using cocaine.

“We’re not gay, we’re just sensitive, and with an eye for window treatments!”
I know chronic, but what is vodak?
Oh, my autocorrect tells me vodka.
I think Prince wrote the musical score for the 1st Batman movie.
So be it, but you’re wildly misrepresenting their track record.
