See? In modern USA, where politics prevails, HUMOR GOES AWAY.

And THAT is why fewer and fewer comedians will do the college campus circuit:

With people who are not in control of their emotions, you cannot predict what will offend them.

All humor is critical —it always critiques SOMETHING.

And when politics will not brook ANY type of criticism, then there is NO MORE HUMOR.

Yep, the Soviet Union was uniformly depicted as a humorless place. It wasn't until the Berlin Wall fell that a few comedians were able to ply their trade there - mostly by mocking the pre-Yeltsin regimes.

I swear, that evil Communist crap swept right across the Atlantic at that time, like the "Jack the Ripper" entity in that old episode of Star Trek.
