I used to know David Horowitz a bit although it’s been years. Of the former Lefties who moved Right I liked him about the best. Probably because he’s not exactly a neocon although he has much in common with them.
I first heard of Horiwitz when he was still a lefty and I would glean the last issues of Ramparts at the Ole Miss library
I was pathetically idealistic
Then in Manhattan mid 80s I noticed writing leaking out in of all places The Village Voice where Horowitz appeared to be rejecting the left
I had already come around at least 50 percent by 1980
I was sick of Carters weakness and irked by the rise of racial identity victim exploitation but ambivalent on Reagan though I supported him
That vanished by the time he got shot
