federal court has ordered a town in Mississippi to desegregate its high schools and middle schools, ending a five-decade-long legal battle over integrating black and white students.

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi ordered the Cleveland School District to consolidate the schools after rejecting two alternatives proposed by the school district, saying they were unconstitutional.

Brown v Board has existed for 60 years and is in no way controversal or problematic. It is time this town in Mississippi stepped forward to at lest the middle of the 20th century.

It's about time that those who blindly bite when others try to cll Mississippi racist get with the reality. Like anyplace else, if there's segregation of Blacks from Whites, it's either due to the demographics of where each lives and the schools in that district or the parents opting to keep each to their own - more Blacks than Whites do so these days and then they complain because "privileged Whitey" does better in the schools. Put those same Blacks and Whites in the same schools with the same teachers and see which demographic does consistently better.

I've been a Mississippi resident since 1986 and have seen the differences in the local schools and the quality of the teachers of both races. In second grade, my daughter attended a school with a majority of Black teachers - when she came home with 100% on spelling paers with many mistakes, she said that her teacher made her change the spelling. Then, she seemed to know what was coming up in movies we hadn't seen before - turns out her "teacher" was having a lot of "bad days" where she would plug in a VCR and play movies to keep them "busy"

We finally got enough people to complain that they decided to test all the teachers for competence. A teacher friend came by and said they all knew the fix was in when they saw 'proctors" on either side of the trashy teacher to ensure she passed.

It ain't racist Whites in Mississippi causing the problems.....

Where do you lie that makes you such an expert?

thank you, Sir.
It was as obvious to me as it was to you that the commenter had no idea of what he was talking about.
We Mississippians have had to learn to deal with the challenges of race relations in ways that other parts of the country cannot imagine.

I live in the United States and have read the Constitution.

That means as much as the commercials where some person stayed at a Holiday Inn.

You only know what the propagandists have said about Mississippi and haven't a clue about how the Constitution might apply to the crap article you posted.

Ignorance is bliss and we have a few really blissful people spewing off here.

I suppose having read the Constitution is something, but understanding it and perhaps being a conservative that wants to preserve it are different animals than just having read it.

Are you a conservative who believes in personal responsibility for yourself and others or are you just a mouthpiece that will claim some ideals and then grab for the "free" stuff?

I see you have been here for about 8 months - let me invite you to donate to FR since you obviously make use of its services.

The guy's response to me about what made him an expert on the Mississippi hit piece was that he lives in the United States and has read the Constitution.

I told him that's about as impressive as the commercials where someone stayed at a Holiday Inn last night....

Been a Mississippi "dweller" for 30 years and a resident for 18 years - waited until i retired from the military to change residences for tax reasons and understand her past and am living her here and now. Funny how those who slur her haven't been around to see a LOT of Blacks carrying yard signs and stickers for the republican/Conservative candidates over the years - it might give them pause about the race relations here and illustrate the difference between race and responsible citizenship.....

Brown v Board just said that a school can’t refuse to allow black kids into a school. It said nothing about forcing schools to be “racially balanced.”

Brown v Board was decided and settled 60 years ago.

And Roe vs. Wade was decided 43 years ago - what's your point?

Brown vs. Board said that States couldn't establish schools for specific races - the schools in MS are not established as such - they are using Brown vs. Board like they use the Commerce Clause - as a catch-all for anything they damn well please to exert un-constitutional power over States.

Before you pontificate - how many "historically all Black colleges are there and did Brown vs. Board get rid of them? What States are/were they in?

Do you agree with Roberts' decision on the constitutionality on Obama Care? If you think a Federal judge can use Brown vs. Board for this issue, then you have no reason to disagree with Roberts....or any other Federal overreach.
