Police said a black University of Iowa student lied about being the victim of a racially motivated beating and that he instigated at last one of several alcohol-fueled fights.
Marcus Owens told police that he was attacked April 30 by three white men who hurled racial slurs as they damaged his eye socket and knocked out his front teeth.
The alleged hate crime stoked safety concerns and distrust among some minority students in the university.
But police said Tuesday that his report was false. Investigators obtained surveillance video showing Owens had been a participant and instigator of fights that started inside a bar and continued outside.
Owens will not be charged, and police won't seek restitution to cover the cost of the investigation. He and his family issued an apology.

Making a false racist charge should be a hate crime.
Pretending a hate crime needs to be the exact same criminal violation as the crime pretended.
Good question. There needs to be a way to force the police to do the right thing in cases like this, but what would it be? A lawsuit to recover taxpayer costs of the investigation, maybe?
This has become a very common occurrence. The left always has to make things up to further their agenda.

1) If a particular political party gets its power through proposing to ‘solve’ certain ‘problems’, whether real or imagined, then it is in the best interests of that party to make damn sure those problems never get ‘solved’.
2) If a particular political party gets its power from ‘the poor’, then it is in the best interests of that party to make damn sure the number of poor increases.
3) If a particular political party gets its power from there being a constant friction between the races, then it is in the best interests of that party to make damn sure the that friction is aggravated at all times.
4) If a particular political party gets its power from fear of ‘what might happen’, then it is in the best interests of that party to make damn sure the fear is promulgated and multiplied whenever possible.
Apparently laws are now prosecuted depending on the politics of your situation.
No good reason why not.
He should be charged with a hate crime (hurting whites).
He should be charged with lying to police.
He should pay all legal costs, be fined and serve time.
He should be expelled from that school.
That’s how this thuggery is stopped.

Another example of dual law systems. A white person does this and it is jail time. Since this is one of the half breed’s stepchildren, it is an apology and no compensation to the PD.
Sad part is, IF ever a real hate crime is committed, police will be less likely to answer the call or investigate. That’s what happens when you cry “Wolf” one too many times.
The Lefts entire philosophy is based upon a fake hate-crime against the fake oppressed.
