According to Jefferson, it is a self-evident truth that governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed.
If the officials of government deceive the government with a calculated mixture of facts and falsehoods, the governed are incapable granting informed consent. That makes the government illegitimate, and such a government is properly called a tyranny.
Of course, the US government is different from other tyrannies in history in that allows the governed to select the less horrible of two horrible candidates for tyrant, and it assures transgender individuals the right to select the restroom of his/her/xer/xis/its choosing.
