“Waiting with baited breath,”

“baited” in this context, should be, “bated”. Sorry and please do not take offense. Those particular words and the misuse of same are one of my pet peeves. ;-)

When fishing I do not put bate on my hook. I often use bait. And wait with baited breath, for a fish to bite. Bait. Bait a hook. Bait a trap.
