A STRING QUARTET + 1

BRAHMS: PIANO QUINTET IN F MINOR, OP. 34, ALLEGRO

It starts with a “things that go bump in the night” kind of sound in C minor before it takes off in C Major and minor. The central panel, or “trio,” is in pure C Major. The opening section returns for a great finish.

This video features two of my old friends. That’s Robert deMaine, principal cello of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and cellist with the Ehnes String Quartet. And that’s Orion Weiss on piano. He’ll be playing at a private party and fund raiser in Seattle this weekend, and I’ll be there.

Brahms: Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, third movement
