This is another of the great warhorses of the chamber repertory, but it has a sunnier disposition than the Brahms piece. The first movement in 2/2 flashes between major and minor with reckless abandon, the way Czech music does. The second subject at 2:43 in F# minor is just juicy. This performance skips the exposition repeat, which is a blessing, because that first ending doesnt work well at all.
Development is based on the first subject.
The recap at 7:30 is welcome, and the coda at 10:09 just takes your breath away.
