SCHUMANN: PIANO QUINTET IN E-FLAT, OP. 44, MOLTO VIVACE Clara Schumann had a ferocious piano technique, and her specialty was rolling octave passages which she handled with panache. Bob wrote this scherzo in 6/8 for her, and like the previous movement, its in A-B-A-C-A format. The C section is in 2/4, F minor, and is quite a contrast with the rest of the movement. The coda builds up quite a head of steam before it wraps with a bang.
