The major credential of all VP’s going as far back as I can remember is their foreign policy experience.

Picking a junior senator from a swing state won’t do Trump any good. Picking a young latina won’t do any good either. Pandering never works. Corker is a sell out and I don’t like him. But he helps the ticket. He has no principles and will do whatever Trump tells him to do.

I'm wondering if Senator Portman would be on a short list. He has the problems with supporting lousy global trade deals and of opening the door for the gay rights agenda. But Portman is smart, he's knowledgeable, he's polished, he works across the aisle, and he just might buy in to more restrictions on trade. He's also very careful about not making enemies.

As an OH resident, I find following his newsletters interesting. He really does a lot of stuff that doesn't get publicity.
