These security lines have moved fairly steadily for years now. Why is it that all of a sudden, in one weekend, we have three hour waits? The passenger load is not increasing.
In Chicago, the news stations are quoting TSA union officials, saying that the union is intentionally slowing down the processes. They are angry at the city of Chicago for not allowing the TSA to carry guns. If they did, the TSA workers would get higher pay, because they would be classified as a more dangerous job. This is the union’s way to get back at the city.
The city prefers to use CPD officers. Its really just one union fighting against another. So if you are sitting in a line in Chicago, rest assured your safety and security has nothing to do with your wasted time. And you are a sitting duck for any terrorist who wants to hit an airport like Belgium or LAX.
