They will try to play this up as some type of anti-immigrant hate crime but its really just a thug killing someone for money or simply to do it. As an aside, I remember a time when gay men were being killed in Dallas and it was played up into some big wave of homophobia — evil white conservatives killing gays. But at the end of the day, it was just thugs trying to get money from easy targets. The media is wedded to its narrative though.

And Stonewall wasn't raided because it was a gay bar, it was raided because the Mafia owned it.

In Dallas in the ‘50s, it was just called “rolling queers”. One guy from a carload would go into a known area and act as bait. After the gay made positive contact the other guys would jump him, beat him up and rob him. Lee Park and the Oaklawn were known gay areas then, just as they are today.
