Sen. Marco Rubio is not only going to go to the Republican convention that will nominate Donald Trump as the presidential nominee, he would be willing to speak for his former rival and release his delegates to him.

“My sense is I’m going to go to the convention,” Rubio said in an interview with Jake Tapper aired on Thursday. Rubio admitted that he would he “honored” to speak for the Republican nominee if Trump asked him to speak at the convention. ...

Rubio said that if his campaign hadn’t released his delegates to Trump for the convention, he would be willing to make that happen.

“I want to be helpful, I don’t want to be harmful because I don’t want Hillary to be president,”

And it begins... Rubio has about 173 delegates. Most if not all will be voting Trump on the convention floor.

“he would be willing to speak for his former rival and release his delegates to him. “

Good that he finally saw the light and which side of the bread has the butter. Good for the country and his own future. Thanks, Marco.

I don’t know that Trump should waste precious speaking slots on losers.... Trump won’t need these delegates and should devote speaking slots to building his own coalition of supporters and future Republican stars of like minded approaches.....

Doesn’t matter whether he needs them or not...What matters is this is another step toward unity, no matter how you look at it....

Thank you, Marco. America thanks you. Shall we call it even, board erased, and begin anew on how best to serve our Coungry? AMERICA AND AMERICANS FIRST. DC had best begin to learn that phrase. AMERICANS FIRST; AMERICA FIRST. After all, it is we who foot the bills to make the world go round.

Trump could well end up with 1700+ delegates on the first ballot.

What’s the big, covered roll along the third baseline?

Marco has youth on his side.

He sees how the game is played. He now knows that teaming with Cruz against Trump was not the way to.

I believe he's a good guy....just inexperienced in the "let's be buddies" department.

Rubio would be a good selection as VP. Aside from his “problem” with illegal aliens, the guy IS conservative, Hispanic, from Florida and an eloquent speaker. If Dr. Kelly is able to EXORCIZE Juan McCain on August 30th, a vile and malicious influence upon him will be removed.

Too "little" too late, Marco.

Besides, Rule 16 says there is NO PENALTY if any "Rubio delegates" voted for Trump on the first ballot.
For any manner of binding or allocating delegates under these rules, if a delegate (i) casts a vote for a presidential candidate at the national convention inconsistent with the delegate’s obligation under state law or state party rule, (ii) nominates or demonstrates support under Rule No. 40 for a presidential candidate other than the one to whom the delegate is bound or allocated under state law or state party rule, or (iii) fails in some other way to carry out the delegate’s affirmative duty under state law or state party rule to cast a vote at the national convention for a particular presidential candidate, the delegate shall be deemed to have concurrently resigned as a delegate and the delegate’s improper vote or nomination shall be null and void. Thereafter the secretary of the convention shall record the delegate’s vote or nomination in accordance with the delegate’s obligation under state law or state party rule. This subsection does not apply to delegates who are bound to a candidate who has withdrawn his or her candidacy, suspended or terminated his or her campaign, or publicly released his or her delegates.

What I would be more concerned about is, if "Lyin' Ted" still keeps pulling his backroom $hit to win Trump delegates on the 2nd ballot.
If so, that could mean the CFR crowd (of International Bankers) think they know of something brewing where Trump might be at room temperature, or might otherwise be incapable of accepting the nomination in July.

Trump won’t need these delegates ..

**************

True enough but the objective now becomes the Nov General Election and any
help in bringing in voters to help the cause is great. The goal is to secure
at least 270 Electoral College votes. In the final outcome I expect
all the primary
candidates will endorse Trump as the nominee at the convention.

I think Rubio would be smart VP, Hispanic, man of faith, pro-life, young, and a dynamite campaigner, speaker. Trump could do a lot worse.

The rule you quote comes from the 2012 Convention rules. The 2016 Convention Rules
haven’t been written nor approved yet. The 112 member Convention Rules Committee will
meet the week before the Convention to develope the proposed rules for adoption.
The rule you quote may well come back as you quote or it may be changed. We’ll see.
