More mis-direction. The pause was not an accident, it was intentional and purposely misleading in order to make the interviewees look bad.

That's exactly right.
NBC edited what actually happened (the truth) to make it appear as if Couric achieved a "mic drop" victory over the heartless hapless dolts opposing her political agenda.

NBC basically denies a mistake was made and pretends to apologize to any who were offended by their lies.
