AP FACT CHECK: Clinton misstates key facts in email episode
AP ^ | May 27, 2016 | LISA LERER and CATHERINE LUCEY

Over the months, Hillary Clinton misstated key facts about her use of private email and her own server for her work as secretary of state, the department's inspector general reported this week.

According to the findings, she claimed approval she didn't have and declined to be interviewed for the report despite saying "I'm more than ready to talk to anybody anytime." Scrutiny of her unusual email practices appeared to be unwelcome, despite her contention those practices were well known and "fully above board."

A look at some of Clinton's past claims about her unusual email set-up and how they compare with the inspector general's findings:

CLINTON: "The system we used was set up for President Clinton's office. And it had numerous safeguards. It was on property guarded by the Secret Service. And there were no security breaches." — March 2015 press conference.

THE REPORT: Evidence emerged of hacking attempts, though it's unclear whether they were successful....[more at link]

* The Democrats are looking at the FBI investigation. * The Democrat leaders are scared to death of what Hillary might have done. * If there’s even one Democrat in the FBI team investigating her, then the Democrats will know what’s going on. * They may already know she’s heading for jail.

I am praying there are many more lies and illegal cover-ups to come that Hillary will definitely be indicted!

If I'm not mistaken, there have been no emails discovered between Hillary and Ambassador Stevens and that's a REAL smoking gun since Stevens wanted out of Benghazi in the worst way because of the danger surrounding the consulate and had made several requests to shut it down.

There should be some emails between the two - or at least some from him to Hillary that may have gone unanswered. This could prove that Hillary really does have blood on her hands.

Amazing isn’t it. Domino effect. One MSM outlet after another, I wonder if she can hang on this time.

The woman wants to be president, yet she cannot (ostensibly) understand the importance of maintaining security protocols with regard to communicating sensitive information. She, also, lacks an understanding of conflict of interest, obeying laws and ethical standard or cooperating with Congress and other investigative agencies. Hillary Clinton just feels that she doesn’t have to do all that stuff. Her arrogance is rivaled only by her incompetence.

“mistakes were made”

And don't forget the politicians next sentence -

“Lessons were learned’

It’s a holiday weekend. Apparently the media can spare a little break from their decades-old Clinton love fest.

We’ll see if it really leads to a sustained, consistent criticism of the Queen.

“...so the next approach is to make it appear as if she simply goofed up a little on minor things...”

I disagree. For the AP, this article is very tough on HRC. I think the media know that if the State Dept report was that scathing, the FBI report will be much worse (since the FBI has more ammo). The media are preparing the real possibility HRC will be indicted, which Rudy Giuliani puts at 60%.

This domino effect seems a little like the famous “gravitas” week.
They are all-in for at least one mention.

But it is refreshing to see any criticism of her.

They can't indict her until the "investigation" is complete. They're estimating that that will take approximately 47 years.

Maybe the AP will get around to fact checking the other lies coming from Mrs. Imelda Clinton.

Any knowledgeable IT person knows that, under many circumstances, once you hack into a server, you can "cover your tracks" (by altering log files, for instance) in numerous ways, such that there is absolutely no evidence of the successful exploit.

A hacker can also put the victim in a "house of mirrors", so to speak, and make it appear as if there's no compromise whatsoever.

Until the computer is unplugged from the network, re-booted into a clean OS, and then forensically examined, there's might not be any way to detect the hack.

Indeed, a real sharp hacker could even restore things to their former state, erase all compromised executables, and basically leave no trace whatsoever.

So any claim that Hillary makes regarding "hacks" that weren't successful is sheer speculation at this point.

And if one email is ever released by a third party, that will prove that Hillary's server was hacked and someone likely has all her emails, which is an obvious national security breach, as well as a risk for future extortion, etc.

This fiasco will remain an ongoing risk to U.S. national security well into the future, because we just don't know what's gotten out there, if anything.

Even setting aside the issues of conflict of interest, corruption, and criminality (all of wihcih there is mounting ecidence for), lives could easily have been lost as a result merely of Hillary's incompetence.

At this point, how any honest, patriotic Democrat could want Hillary to be President is just beyond me.

Once we hear some powerful Democrats saying that, then we'll know that Hillary's being abandoned.

We're witnessing quite a crash and burn here, folks. Potentially EPIC fail on Hillary's fault.

Vote Trump!

They want her to get away with her crimes with just a "strongly worded letter" and this is one of them, probably the only one from the AP.

That's what I think is going on, too.

The Media is just trying to feign concern, and then they'll sweep it under the rug and treat it as "old news" with a clear conscience, even though there will have been no accountability fro Hillary, either legally or politically.

But that's not going to work either, because Hillary is becoming such damaged goods, that they know she has no chance of beating Trump.

They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't see any easy way out for them even without an indictment.

Trump will brand Hillary as a liar, due to, for instance, the multiple blatant lies she has told during this particular scandal. She'll also be branded as a national security risk, and rightly so. And the more that drips out regarding the Clinton Foundation influence peddling, the Goldman Sachs speeches she won't release, the ungodly money she made from them for no valid reason, it's all just going to sink her like a freighter full of lead.

I'm actually starting to believe that Hillary won't politically survive this scandal. I mean, at some point, the Establishment Left will have to cut their losses and try something else.

Vote Trump!

No. It’s strictly a paraphrase of what I expect her spokespersons will say along the lines if the meaning of is.

I think they realize the IG report is a turning point, and they can no longer ignore the issue.

Further, the report provides a raft of evidence against Clinton.

I believe that they must know what is about to happen..
Everything lining up against the old hag.. Guccifer, Pagliano, the FBI etc... and they (someone) has decided it’s time.. If the IG report don’t do it they will have to do it themselves. I believe this report is her Queue to bow out with a health problem like a hairball in her throat or something..
