CRUZ said it is his "hope" that the Republicans nominate a conservative, SIGNALING THAT THE NOMINEE HAS NOT BEEN DECIDED. "What I hope is that we have a Republican nominee that will actually defend conservative principles," Cruz said.

Cruz ... is still working to elect delegates, "even though Donald has the delegates to get the nomination." "One of the reasons that we are continuing to work to elect conservatives to be delegates, ... we intend to do everything we can to fight for conservative principles to prevent Washington forces from watering down the platform."....

Was Cruz basking in a Pool in Mexico when he missed this vote on 5-19-2016?

“Love the trademark.”

I wish I could take credit for it, but I plagiarized it from another FReeper who posted it quite some time back. (Just to make sure credit is given where credit is due.)

He is an opportunist, only cares about himself, was playing the conservative card....

Oh, I see...the long con. He decided to start debating Austrian economics and the Constitution back in high school because it was all part of a ploy....right.....

Are you trying to NOT get him elected POTUS?

What is the game plan? Alienate the independent and cross-over democrats paving the way for Hillary?

Sorry, i don’t follow your strategy.

What is past is past, I just hope that those who believed Cruz at the time wake up now and fully support Trump, focusing on the objective: elect a Republican president. The only chance of that is by supporting Trump.

TRUE FOOLS!

As a true fool, I'd like to explain my reasoning. In the People's Republic of Maryland, there was no chance at all that either big-government "moderate" would win my state. I decided that I would rather protest vote for the libertarian rather than express support for terrible nominees. In a swing state, I would have held my nose. In a liberal lock state, I'd rather cut the vote totals reported for weak nominees that I despise.

He probably saw some advantage of it at the time. He isn’t totally stupid, just a jerk who only cares about himself — as I said before.

Your statement did not refute my point.

He has been a poor actor of conservatism.

Friends from Liberty University spent hours reviewing elements of his speech in Lynchburg, VA.

The consensus was that he was not genuine due to the irregularities of his eye contact, facial expressions, and gesturing inconsistent with his speech.

That is the reason he lost the entire South and the evangelical vote. They saw straight through him.

Lots of phony preachers in the South aiming to scam people of their donations to the church. Folks have grown wise to spotting the cunning deceivers.

And that’s not the only consequence. I hope those people are happy, because a lot of us aren’t.

Cruz is posturing to ensure the RINO's and GOPe don't infect the convention and water down the platform?

Then this is excellent news. I didn't see anything in the article that would support your conclusion but I'm sure that won't stop your knee from jerking. Hope you don't hurt yourself. Cruz will support Trump and will help unite the party around Trump as it should be. I'm glad someone is holding feet to the fire to make the convention as conservative as possible. That will be a welcome change from the many conventions of recent history.

From the article:

......CAMPBELL: This is something many of my listeners are struggling with. Should a true conservative, should a true conservative support Donald Trump if in fact he is the Republican nominee.

CRUZ: Well, that's a decision that every voter is going to have to make. And it's going to be a decision that is going have to come from prayer and careful examination as to whether he has demonstrated he has earned your vote. Whether he has demonstrated that he is standing for the principles that built this country. I am where I think a lot of voters are, which is looking and listening. I am deeply concerned for our country.
......

So does Cruz think God might urge a voter to vote for Hillary instead of Trump?.....or maybe not vote at all, thus resulting in better odds that Hillary will win? Does Cruz really believe this?

Man, I supported this guy, but this is getting really old. He should go back to being the senator we elected to be and give up the delusions of grandeur.

I’m not entirely happy with Mr. Trump, but it’s becoming more and more apparent that D & R have been run as two faces of the same corrupt cartel, and if DJT can disrupt it, then maybe that’s a good thing.

And I’m still ticked off that certain ‘establishment’ figures wanted to marginalize conservatives and ‘win without them’. Phooey on them.
