Because in reality, Hillary is a ship taking on water.

Johnson was booed at the final Libertarian debate for calling Weld “the Original Libertarian” (Dafuq?) for supporting driver’s licenses (the idea of needing a license to drive??) and pretty much everything else he said.

They vote on their nominees today (Sunday). It’s possible they’ll reject Weld even if they nominate Johnson for President (he’s still considered a strong favorite).

If they were smart, they’d dump these two buffoons and endorse Trump to defeat the Butcheress of Benghazi.

The NY GOP party establishment wanted to simply hand Willie the Gubernatorial nomination on a silver platter. Talk about your epic-level suicidal impulses.

Perhaps Senator Helms’s finest hour. Watching him slap down that simp-toady RINO Dickless Lugar in committee (who wanted Willie to be Ambassador so badly) was absolutely beautiful. I’d have stood up and cheered from my seat had I been there in person.

We sadly have few real MEN in office today like Sen. Helms, to our nation’s detriment. RIP.

My memory is hazy on that. Can you tell me the details? How did that get upended?

This was when Pataki declined to run for a 4th term in 2006. Weld offered himself up for Governor (in late 2005), with the party establishment salivating over him (nevermind he had eviscerated the MA GOP on his watch a decade before), since Spitzer looked unstoppable. I believe it was Party Chairman Ed Cox who was his big supporter, but Weld was upended at the GOP State Convention, losing 40-60% to Ex-House Minority Leader John Faso. Weld vowed to stay in to the September primary, but when it appeared he couldn’t change the results, dropped out.

Thanks so much for the update. I had forgotten most of those details (thank God!) Ed Cox - another GOPe/Rino loser! What a mess NY is.

Correction, the party chair at the time and big Weld booster was the late Stephen Minarik (not Cox). He ultimately got Weld to see the writing on the wall and drop out.

Cox himself wanted to run for Governor in 2006 but shifted to running for Senator against Hillary, though dropped out in favor of Jeanine Pirro (who in turn also dropped out and ran for AG instead).

I’ve never been a fan of Cox. What a bore! But thanks for the info. I vote now in NJ although maintain an apt. in NYC. So sometimes I don’t keep up or forget the past. I never really got over Clinton becoming a senator. Never got over that betrayal.

Weld also ran for — and won — the Libertarian nomination for governor in that race.

In New York, more than one party can nominate the same person.

But after he lost the GOP nomination, Weld just quit and left the Libertarians high and dry that year.

Thanks for adding that. Folks should’ve been reminded of that fact at the Lib convention. As a far-left Socialist masquerading as a “Libertarian/Republican”, Weld’s only in this race to aid the election of Hillary.

Oh, people at the convention were indeed reminded. Weld apologized there.
