"Neoconservatives typically advocate the promotion of democracy and promotion of American national interest in international affairs, including by means of military force, and are known for espousing disdain for communism and for political radicalism.
I agree with the above characterization, thereby making me a "NEOCON".
More from WIKI:
Prominent neoconservatives in the George W. Bush administration included Paul Wolfowitz, John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, Richard Perle, and Paul Bremer. Senior officials Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, while not identifying as neoconservatives, listened closely to neoconservative advisers regarding foreign policy, especially the defense of Israel and the promotion of democracy in the Middle East. Neoconservatives continue to have influence in the Obama administration, and neoconservative ideology has continued as a factor in American foreign policy.[2][3]
Dick Cheney, John Bolton, and Donald Rumsfeld are the recent officials that I have the greatest respect for. I pray that they all find positions of influence in the Trump 1 administration.
Given that Trump has repeatedly expressed his disdain for the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld Iraq policies I don’t think you should expect to see Cheney or Rumsfeld involved with a Trump administration.
I have to say that I strongly supported the Bush admin. Iraq intervention at the time, but I never imagined or expected that the aftermath could be handled so badly. I dislike the way that Trump describes the issues wrt Iraq, but I’ve come to agree with him that we never should have gone into that ####hole in 2003. Hindsight is too easy, of course.
