Trump doesn't care about the First Amendment? Sure. Forget about the fact the press often distorts what Trump says and the fact that the press is majority liberal, and their coverage often reflects it.
You can be sure that, when you throw a stone into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one that got hit....
>>Donald Trump misunderstandsor, more likely, simply opposes—the role a free press plays in a democratic society, said Thomas Burr, the National Press Club president.
We’ve always asked the media, “how would you like it if the the first amendment was treated the way you treat the second.” Welcome to our world, liberal crybaby.
And Hillary ropes the reporters so they cannot reach her. Obama kicks reporters off his plane who are not properly sycophantic.
But the press remains silent.
Is this about DT not getting the donations he said he did? I heard it at vet friendly sites months ago. Come on, the guy is worth 4 billion and says it’s 10. he says he’s going to build the greatest golf course in the world and it loses money 3 years in a row.
Get over it. He exaggerates. Oh wait, he has to build the wall. Maybe he could hire illegals to work under the table and get it done with pre-planned loop-holes. Bwahahaha!
He’s a tyrant. But that’s what sheople need.
John M. Donnelly — isn’t this the guy leading the communist Chamber of Commerce?
Taking the press to task for lying is not opposition to the First Amendment.
Actually, Big Corporate Media HATES the Constitution.
Instead of questioning and challenging Valerie’s man child or her bureaucrats, the bulk of so-called journalists in the National Press Club are sycophants.
Big Media hates anyone who won’t bow the knee to their oligarchy.
If these “scumbags” calling themselves journalists really did the job they were suppose to do instead of a propaganda machine for the LIBERAL DemoRAT Party, I guess they and we would have a problem, would we?
Under the leadership of people like Thomas Burr, reporters have failed miserably to do their jobs. When are they going to vet Obama? When are they going to look into the alleged sexual misconduct of former President Clinton?
When is Thomas Burr's free press going to vet Hillary Clinton? Have they ever?
Burr is projecting the abject failure of the National Press to do its job of responsible journalism. Is he not? Leftists often accuse the opposition of what they themselves are guilty of.
Trump doesn't care about the First Amendment? Sure. Forget about the fact the press often distorts what Trump says and the fact that the press is majority liberal, and their coverage often reflects it.Trump had previously called for making it easier for public figures to sue news organizations for libel, a change that would practically suffocate a free press and potentially disable some news companies. Some news companies need disabling, though the right way to do it would be with a class action suit by the Middle Class, demanding treble damages for violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. It is not actually necessary IMHO to weaken the right of the people to print (or post on the Internet) truth or frank opinion about politicians. But when news is distorted by - in a particularly egregious example - the broadcasting of George Zimmermans 911 call with an answer and then a question subtly edited out, that is defamation not only of the white hispanic Mr. Zimmerman personally but, by manifest intention, of white people in general. We should all sue - and NBC should pay with its very hearts blood. Not only so, but the Associated Press - which is the mechanism whereby people of the same trade, as Adam Smith put it, meet together, and the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public should have its very right to exist at all challenged. Its original, nominally legitimate mission was to conserver expensive communications bandwidth in disseminating the news widely. The bandwidth which it conserves now is actually dirt cheap, so the mission is obsolete but the damage to independence of presses which inheres in any and all wire services remains.
Whats more, Trumps campaign organization has blocked from his events news outlets whose coverage has not suited the candidate. And reporters who are allowed to attend must stay in pens rather than move about freely.Hey, if it was good enough for CNN when dealing with Saddam Hussein . . .Donald Trump misunderstandsor, more likely, simply opposes--the role a free press plays in a democratic society, said Thomas Burr, the National Press Club president.Maybe so, but maybe he understands it too well. If they are weak enough to be pushed around by an entertainer/businessman the way CNN was pushed around by Saddam Hussein, then . . .But the central fact is that the Constitution intends that we should have free and independent presses, not one associated press with multiple front organizations. Which is what the AP and its membership actually is, and has been since memory of living man runneth not to the contrary.
Since the public pays newspapers to print bad news, criticism to the point of cynicism inheres in journalism. The point, surely (and stop calling me Shirley), is that the cynicism which inheres in journalism is not - repeat, NOT - objectivity. In fact, it is inherently tendentious, dismissing any distinction between the failures of the man in the arena, on the one hand, and the depredations of Clinton-style systematic evasions of responsibility, on the other.
“And reporters who are allowed to attend must stay in pens rather than move about freely.”
Hillary gave him this idea:
The media was only allowed to see her from one side and they were forced to walk that whole time from within their press pen.
I thought Hillary was strangely paranoid of a friendly press. I know that Trump should be paranoid of a hateful media.
Go Trump!!!
Hey Tom. let me know when you start checking Hillary.
The truth is often hard to swallow.
Reporters are supposed to hold public figures accountable.
Trump is holding the “reporters” accountable for their lies, distortions and bias.
“At a press conference earlier in the day, Trump had said the press should be ashamed of themselves for investigating his fundraising for veterans.”
Not at all. He said the press should be ashamed for lying, not investigating. Trump is not against an investigating press; he is against a lying press, like most people.
Well! The press are signaling long and loud that they will biased beyond all belief.
For this they want hosannas for upholding the First Amendment?
The nonprofit world moves slowly. Anyone in it knows that the time from collecting to vetting recipients for and disseminating millions of dollars very regularly takes more than a few months time—let alone when the one(s) doing the collecting, vetting and disseminating are in the midst of a presidential campaign. Were it a year from now and either President or non-president Trump still shy of having doled out the promised funds, an investigation could have been in order.
But all the insinuations and slanted reporting at this point was clearly unfounded and politically motivated.
Finally, someone running for Republican office not afraid to call the press out on its gross bias masking as objectivity.
Most of the media has forgotten that their job is to safeguard the Constitution and the Republic - not to be cheerleaders for the leftists.
“Reporters are supposed to hold public figures accountable. “ - Burr
Huh!?
Where ya’all been the last 7 1/2 years?
