White House: Shooting of gorilla a 'tragedy' Jordan Fabian
President Obamas top spokesman on Wednesday called the shooting death of a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo a tragedy but declined to say whether officials made the right decision in killing the animal.
There have been people across the country that have their own personal opinion about what may have contributed to what can legitimately be described as a tragedy, White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters aboard Air Force One.
But Earnest said he is not aware of any official position that I can articulate from the White House on the incident, adding he hasnt heard the president comment on it.
A 3-year-old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo over the weekend, prompting zoo officials to shoot and kill the endangered Western lowland silverback in order to save the child.
The incident has sparked a national debate over whether it was appropriate to shoot at the 17-year-old gorilla. Local police are also investigating the actions of the parents of the young child, who managed to climb into the enclosure.
A division of the United States Department of Agriculture is also conducting a safety investigation of the zoo.

When has the Obama White House said anything about any of the many murdered policeman in recent months?
But refused to say if they made the right decision. Trump said it was sad, but that the situation could have changed in an instant, faster than anyone could react, so it was the right decision to go ahead and shoot.
That’s the difference between a leader and a pussy.
Deadfish and soebarkah must be proud.
Obama doesn’t seem to value humans, and yet God values humans by putting the in charge of the animals — see Genesis 1.
“Everyday around the world.
Men, Women and Children are murdered by the score.
Who gives a dusty **** about a Gorilla?”
Is it okay that I feel bad about both? Or is that not allowed?
“White House: Shooting of gorilla a ‘tragedy’”
Because he was a black unarmed teen with his hands up?
One day she was careless and the monkey got out and climbed a telephone pole. It sitting up there making a racket when one of the town cops happened by. Not knowing it was someone's pet, the officer unholstered his revolver and shot the monkey dead.
The woman who'd been caring for the deceased critter was also the owner of the town newspaper, which ran a "MURDER ON MAIN STREET" headline the next day.
There were scripts? I never noticed - well, at least not after Judy Landers joined the cast.
:-)
The mother could have just popped out another kid. But gorillas. They’re special! /s
The shooting was a tragedy, the gorilla was turning his life around. His mama said he was always a good boy and helped her clean up around the nest.
