Honestly, I don’t care how many “conservatives” you elect to the Senate. That doesn’t make Cruz a winner or a leader. To wit:
Cruz could not even get Mike Lee or Jeff Sessions to attend “climate change” hearings featuring Mark Steyn.
Leadership requires more than just sharing overall ideas. It requires getting people to act WITH you on those ideas.
Cruz can’t do that. At all.
That doesn't mean we don't want to maintain and expand RR's ideas, but it does mean that hoping for the "next" Reagan is like hoping for the "next" Godfather. It was a one time thing, can't be repeated. Rush has gone on at length, correctly, about how when you have one of those spontaneous great experiences, you can never go back and re-live it because it was a one-time thing.
Trump is this era's Reagan. No, he does not have the same personal character or morals as Reagan. Neither is America of 2016 the same as America of 1980. Even in 1980, everyone admitted that Abraham Lincoln could never have gotten elected in the modern era.
Trump, not Cruz, is the epitome of the 21st century conservative, media-savvy candidate. I just realized this. Last February, I went to a small event with Cruz after he just had announced his candidacy. At the time, I was impressed by his recounting of how he had hijacked a single Twitter thread to get a hashtag "#CruzingToVictory" to trend. Here's what I finally realized: Cruz treated this like an aberration, a coup he had pulled off. Trump does this as a way of life, all the time, and it's natural. To one, it's a campaign trick, to the other, it's just another part of life in the 21st century.
This is a long-winded way of saying not only are the "neverTrumpers" stupid and losers, but they are completely anachronistic, more attuned to life in the 1950s.
True believers always amuse me.
