A lot of White people voted for Obama in 2008 because they thought it would mean that post-racial America had finally arrived and all the divisions were a thing of the past:

There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America -- there’s the United States of America.

It doesn't seem to have worked out that way, to say the least.

Rather than go on and on about White America and racial nostalgia, maybe it would be instructive to focus on why that future hasn't arrived, rather than on why the past is gone for good.

When Obama came out with that Utopian blather and other similar nonsense during his speech at the 2004 Dim convention, I muted the TV and watched no more of that absurd speech. Had him pegged since that night.
