Brockton Massachusetts held their first gun turn in or buy back in 22 years on 21 May, 2016. Buy Back is a propaganda term; the guns were never owned by the people who are buying them. The event was advertised as accepting guns anonymously, no questions asked. This seems to violate Massachusetts law. There may be an exemption for police. Police will be present; it is unlikely that they would enforce the law against themselves, even if there is no exemption. From wcvb.com:
In exchange for each gun turned in, a $200 gift card to Vicentes grocery store will be given. The gift cards were paid for using forfeiture money that has been seized by the police from drug arrests and raids that led to convictions.
The event seems to have had 9 pistols turned in, two shotguns, a rifle, and a couple of BB guns.
Gun turn in events have dwindled in most states, but most states have not infringed on private sales. Private buyers have become common at gun buy back events in other states. Private buyers destroy the propaganda message that guns are bad, and should be turned in to the police. In Massachusetts, it would be risky to attempt a private sale with a heavy police presence at the site. From state.ma.us:

The push for universal background checks is a push to ban private sales.
If a sale is recorded by the government, it is not private any longer.

May? Either there is or isnt. If not then why are they allowed to proceed? Either we’re governed by a uniform application of the law or not. Anymore it seems not.
I’ll take the S&W J frame in the center and the Colt detective’s special just below it. Giftwrapped.

A few smart people decided that it was worth $200 in exchange for old junk guns that cost less than $100 new in box. I’ve got a few old junkers I’d love to sell to some chump for $200.
I’ve got a Lorcirin ready to roll for the next one.
$200 for a BB gun? You’ll shoot an eye out!
Brockton was slowly becoming a depressing cesspool thirty years ago. It was an early victim of unchecked welfare immigration (Cape Verde, Haiti, Dominican Republic, etc.). If certain elements in that city were eliminated, it wouldn’t be such a bad place.
What do they give you for a sling-shot?
You can’t post stuff like that! (without giving us a name or web link)

Three classic Colts and at least 1 Smith and Wesson destined for the scrap heap. Very sad.
The center gun is probably a Taurus or a Ross, based on the front sight and under-barrel lug.
The revolver on the lower left is a S&W 15, or possibly a 19.
They are mostly IDed in the article.
$200 was only paid for handguns. The shotguns, rifles and BB guns that were turned it did not rate a gift card.
A Bust,,,,
Funny right There!
Some nice of S&W’s revolvers and a Colt in that bunch. Too bad the Assachusetts police goons will destroy them especially the old Colt.
